Audiology Service Pricing

At Merit Hearing, we are pleased to offer a wide variety of audiology services. Unless otherwise noted, the prices below are the amounts submitted to insurance before coverage is applied—not necessarily what you will pay out of pocket. Insurance may cover some or all of the cost, so patient out-of-pocket prices are often lower.

This is especially relevant for diagnostic services, cochlear implant services, and tinnitus and hyperacusis care. Most hearing aid services, however, are excluded from health insurance coverage. Coverage and patient responsibility vary by plan. Please contact us if you have questions about your benefits or a service not listed below.

Please note: all prices are subject to change.

Hearing Aid Service Subscriptions

While we are an “unbundled” clinic, we do offer hearing aid service subscription plans. Purchasing a service plan is always optional, but it may provide additional savings and peace of mind. Service plans are valid at any Merit Hearing location.

In order to purchase a service plan, your hearing aids must be in good working order. The hearing aids do not have to have been purchased from Merit Hearing to qualify. Service plans are non-refundable.

Essential Service Plan – $119/year for up to 2 hearing aids

  • Hearing aid drop-offs and/or tech appointments for routine hearing aid cleanings, repair diagnostics, and Bluetooth help
  • In-warranty manufacturer hearing aid repairs
  • On the date of purchase, you will receive 2 free packages of wax filters and 1 free package of dome tips

Standard Service Plan – $249/year for up to 2 hearing aids

  • The Essential Service plan plus:
  • Up to three audiologist visits for hearing aid services

Premium Service Plan – $499/year for up to 2 hearing aids

  • The Essential Service plan plus:
  • Unlimited audiologist visits for hearing aid services

**These service plans do not cover lost hearing aids or out-of-warranty repairs by the manufacturer. If hearing aids are out-of-warranty, replacement parts (such as receivers) are not included.

Hearing aid service contracts are limited to hearing aid diagnostics and do not include medical diagnostics nor other medical services provided at Merit Hearing. For example, diagnostic hearing tests and ear wax removal services would incur an additional fee as they are not included in these service contracts, but are often covered by health insurance.

Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)

Patients must be 7 years of age or older and have normal hearing (as evidenced by a hearing test within the last 6 months) to be evaluated and treated for APD. APD testing is currently available in our Ankeny, Iowa office. Our APD audiologist is out of network with all insurance plans. The $490 initial APD evaluation price is the patient’s out-of-pocket cost, and Merit Hearing does not submit insurance claims for this service. Patients may contact their insurer to ask whether they can submit documentation independently for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
